Hello World!!! My name is Richard Fraser and this blog is about me and my photography. I figured what better way to start out my first official post than by giving you a little bit of background on who I am, how I got to where I am now and what my goals are for the future. I guess I have always had an interest in photography but I was late getting into the field. I bought my first SLR about seven years ago and since then I have been getting more and more involved as my skills and knowledge of the field have improved. For the first little while photography was more of a hobby as I explored the camera and became familiar with its workings. It wasn't until about three years ago that my true drive for photography kicked with the purchase of a Nikon D70 and the move to digital. Moving to digital allowed me to gain instant feedback on what different settings did and how they effected the outcome of the image and I noticed a automatic improvement in my photography skills and understanding. I started to display my images in a number of local art shows which were a success and allowed me to gain more confidence. I was than approached to be a back up photographer for a wedding. This was my first experience having to work under extremely high pressure photography and in the end I felt it was a success. I learned from this experience which has allowed my wedding photography to advance and progress. Since than I have completed a number of successful weddings, engagement pictures, commercial photography and completed the Markdale Firefighters 2008 Calendar. So that gets everyone up to speed with who I am and what I have been doing up until now. Onto what my goals are for the future. I have just successfully launched my new website www.richardfraserphotography.com in order to showcase my work and to be able to better promote my photography. One step in gaining more publicity is going to be this blog. I will be showing previews of jobs that have been completed, updates in what other photographic ventures I will be taking and tips, techniques and new technology. I hope that I will be able to give an insider look into how I obtained my photographs so that people just getting into photography will be able to learn from my experiences. I will be discussing any issues and road blocks that I may run into and how I was able to overcome these issues. My hope with this blog and website is that I will hopefully be able to gain more jobs and become a more recognized photographer and ultimately gain a better relationship with my followers.
